ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely cake, Kathy. I never heard of a cake called Visitandine, intriguing. Of course I had to look it up and discovered that it was created by the Nuns of the Visitandine order. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it tastes heavenly:) Thank you so much for sharing, Kathy...
Wow, Kathy - your photos are just terrific! We loved this, too, and can think of lots of fruits to enjoy it with.

ReplyDeleteA huge hit at our house, too! Thumbs up from the Bills!!!
ReplyDeleteYour photographs are so pretty and spring-like. lovely cake. we loved it too.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I know this is going to be one of my favorite cakes. I just loved it. I browned the butter, and it added a nice flavor to the cake. Both your versions look wonderful. I have some left, so I'll try sprinkling it with powdered sugar. Looks very pretty! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this before but it sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteVisitandine...what a beautiful name for a sponge cake! It looks so soft and smooth.
ReplyDeleteDear Kathy, You sound very happy with the results of this cake. My daughter's birthday is tomorrow and she would like a plain cake with strawberries. I think I found my cake.
ReplyDeleteI hope that all is well and have a beautiful weekend. Blessings dear. Catherine xo
Kathy, this recipe was certainly a winner this week - so nice to see that you also really enjoyed this lovely, elegant cake with some whipped cream and delicious strawberries!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!
I love your pretty spring presentation! I can hardly wait to try this cake with strawberries and cream this summer. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteHow could we resist strawberries at this time of year. Love your tablecloth and setting... great pics.
ReplyDeleteLooks divine. I also tried it plain just out of the oven and it was delicious. But by the next day it was a bit dry and needed some strawberries and cream. Or a cup of tea. Either way, still darn tasty.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures and setting! I just had a slice, toasted, with balsamic strawberrys and a cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteYour dessert looks gorgeous! I agree though, that this cake is really fabulous by itself with a coffee. What a treat!
ReplyDeleteKathy - th cake looks beautiful and I love your clover plates! What a beautiful spring cake!
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning photos of your cake, deliciously topped with strawberries :D

This really looks lovely and its nice to see it presented al fresco as you have it. With coffee!
ReplyDeleteI just love how simple this cake is! You can tell that it's one of those that is both easy and delicious.
ReplyDeleteawesome shot.. i love to have that delicious cake with a cup of tea
ReplyDeleteThis is what I like about French Fridays! I never knew this cake existed and now that I know I will make it as often as I can! This is such a beautiful shot Kathy!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo with the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteSo bright and lovely outside! Yours looks wonderful and how awesome to have such great weather in which to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely my summer cake also, Kathy. I liked it every bit as much as you did. What won't it go with, is the question? As you know, I tried several different versions - serving wise - and didn't even think of powdered sugar. Love the thought of that. My plan is to stick a wedge of Visitandine in my backpack this Summer when I resume my Ranger "career". It would be a good snack to go with my fruit. Am I wrong that your Blog hasn't been green before. Isn't that new? Or, am I just losing my mind. I love your heading color.
ReplyDeleteMary, This cake will make the perfect snack cake to pack up for lunch.
DeleteMy blog has been green for a few years…however I just added the social media buttons several weeks ago. That might be the difference you see. Thanks for noticing!
I enjoyed all my slices of this cake with coffee on the side. That cream is just luscious!
ReplyDeleteI'll make sure I bookmark this one to try sometime. It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great spring brunch recipe! Perhaps for Mother's Day...
ReplyDeleteKathy, it looks like you're taking photos by natural light...so bright and colorful! Any kind of French cakes would be so inspirational, but this light, airy, and spongie simple...yet beautifl and delicious cake would be on top of my list; and 'high five' for the whipped cream and strawberries!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Such a rich in flavors cake Kathy! I love everything about it!
ReplyDeleteI am loving your gorgeous sunny photos of this delicious cake - makes me want to fly north for the winter.
ReplyDeleteI love your photos! The colours are amazing and we just don't get cream that white.
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for summer and the heat to end over here in Australia but looking at your pic I'm wondering what my rush is?!
Kathy this cake looks like it has the perfect crumb and is perfectly delicious.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you loved this one. I love your presentation, what a pretty plate!
