Flag Berry Tart~~Happy 4th of July

Happy Fourth of July!!
A Quick post to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July!  Today, we will be celebrating with friends and doing what so many other Americans do on the 4th of July!  There will be a barbecue with plenty of food, wonderful conversation with good friends, and there will be fireworks!!  My son and his family are celebrating at the beach with a parade and fireworks!  My daughter and her family will be at an annual Fourth of July/birthday party for her niece and nephew!  My younger son will be celebrating in NYC with friends…and there will be Big Fireworks!
So from my family to yours….no matter how you celebrate…Enjoy the day!!

I made a wonderful Flag Berry Tart from Martha Stewart for dessert tonight. I’ve made it several times before, and it is always a big hit! This year I made one in a rectangle tart pan 12x8, instead of two 4x14 pans. The heat made it harder to do the powdered sugared berries…but I think it still looks pretty good!

Crust ready for oven
Melted chocolate layer
Pretty Flag Berry Tart…the heat started to melt the powdered sugar

I’ll take that piece!

Flag Berry Tart

Ingredients
All-purpose flour, for working
Pate Sucree
5 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

Creme Fraiche

  7. Well the sugar stayed on long enough for the photo! And who cares if it's a red and blue flag. I bet it tastes wonderful!

  12. Kathy, your flag tart with the berries, looks so beautiful, and delicious! So nice that you had a wonderful celebration, as so did your children, as well!

Seems for me, every year at this time my family is away vacationing, but I did enjoy a nice early day get together on the beach w/son, and ex-hubby, and spent the rest of the day by myself, watching fireworks from outside my daughter's house (they live near the Intracoastal waterway)
I would love to have a piece of your amazing tart!

  13. Kathy, I knew you would come up with something special and you certainly did. There probably wasn't a crumb left. Beautiful flag tart. The Fourth is one of my favorite holidays. Thank you for your kind words regarding Michael. We're doing well and it's nice to be surrounded by family and grandchildren. Life marches on, as it should.
